L&R Rusch Farms History

Rusch Family Farms was founded in 1926 by Catherine E. Rusch following the passing of her husband, Emil, from pneumonia. She raised their four children on the farm, striving to endure the hardships of the Great Depression. In 1946, when Louis Sr. returned from the war, he and his brothers Richard and Joe joined forces to establish Rusch Bros. Farms. Each brother passed down their farming legacy to their sons: Mike, Joe Jr., Steve Sr., and Louis Jr. In the early 1990s, after a reorganization and the addition of Louis Sr.'s youngest son, Larry Rusch, L&R Rusch Farms was formed. Around this time, Louis Sr. and Richard retired. Larry, Louis, Stephen Jr., and Steve Sr. continued to farm together under the banner of L&R Rusch Farms, INC. Today, the next generation Auggie, Alex, Nathan, and Ross—looks forward to becoming the future owner-operators of L&R Rusch Farms, INC. Each generation actively upholds strong family values and is committed to being responsible stewards of the land.
